Physical Education & Wellness
Yoga & Mindfulness
Our Yoga and Mindfulness program offers weekly guided meditation and exercise sessions with a certified instructor in our Yoga Studio. Students will learn to connect mindfulness practices to themselves, the world around them, and their community. They will engage in activities to improve their health, increase their confidence, and enhance their executive functioning.
Physical Education
Physical education (PE) is a required academic subject that teaches participation in lifelong, health-enhancing physical activity. In Physical Education, students learn to work with others, develop healthy personal fitness habits, and set fitness goals now and throughout their lives.
We have been proud partners with Rising New York Road Runners for several years. This free, running-based program helps young people build fundamental movement skills at the heart of running and most other sports, boost their confidence, and cultivate a lasting love for physical activity—all important factors for lifelong well-being.
Classroom Physical Activity Program
All of our teachers are trained in the Move to Improve program, a free, classroom-based physical activity initiative. This program helps elementary school teachers integrate physical activity into academic lessons, encouraging students to stay active while learning. The activities are designed to reinforce what students learn in both physical education and other subjects. Often referred to as "brain breaks" or "movement breaks," these activities support students' focus and overall well-being.
